Dundas & Wilson has won a role advising the Shetland Islands Council on a review of the financial governance system it uses for funds raised through oil revenues. The firm originally acted for the council in the 1970s, when the latter was given the power to directly negotiate financial agreements with oil industry players in relation to oil-related activities. Corporate partner David Hardie is leading on the current deal alongside head of competition and EU law Peter Willis and the firm's newly appointed head of public law Colin Boyd QC. "The combination of our knowledge of the history of the work, coupled with our constitutional law capability in Colin Boyd, put us in a prime position to be awarded the contract," said Hardie.
