Dundas looks to Clifford Chance for latest City hire

Dundas & Wilson has beefed up its employment practice with the addition of Clifford Chance partner Robert Davies to its London office.

Davies, who had been a partner at Clifford Chance since 2002, numbers the fifth partner in the Scottish-headquartered firm’s national employment practice, which also houses 20 fee earners.

Dundas & Wilson managing partner Donald Shaw said: “Our employment team is very highly regarded with a number of leading individuals and the addition of Robert will further enhance the team’s capabilities. I am delighted that someone of Robert’s calibre is joining us and I know that he has a great deal to contribute to our practice across the UK.”

At Dundas, Davies will continue his focus on contentious and non-contentious employment law and in particular will look at the financial services, government and technology sectors.

Stressing that he had enjoyed his time at Clifford Chance, Davies said he is looking forward to working with the Dundas team at a national level as well as in the City.

His hire is the latest in a line of high-profile appointments at Dundas, which took on Scotland’s former Lord Advocate Colin Boyd QC to head its public law group last year (www.thelawyer.com, 15 May 2007).

A year ago (www.thelawyer.com 10 January 2007) the firm hired Herbert Smith’s head of property litigation Martin Thomas.
