Dundas appointed sole legal adviser to Anesco

Dundas & Wilson has been appointed sole legal adviser to energy efficiency solutions company Anesco.

Dundas will work with Anesco – which is based in Reading and helps individuals, businesses and other bodies reduce reduce their energy usage – primarily on more complex projects. Thecompany’s head of legal Jeremy Cross, who joined the firm from Greenberg Traurig Maher in April (30 April 2012), handles the day-to-day legal issues.

Dundas corporate partner Douglas Land, who is based in London, will manage the firm’s relationship with Anesco. According to Land, the firm has not committed itself to a particular fee structure for its work with the company.

There was no beauty parade or selection process to get the job as Anesco’s external legal adviser. Rather, Dundas was appointed because it had already worked for the company on the renewable energy and real estate tax side.

The firm also has links to Anesco’s senior management. Anesco’s chief executive Adrian Pike used to be the managing director of Scottish & Southern Energy’s (SSE) telecommunications business. Both SSE and SSE Telecommunications are long-time clients of Dundas. SSE is also one of Anesco’s two principal investors.

In a statement, Pike, said: “I’ve known the team at Dundas & Wilson for over 10 years now, from my time working with SSE […] We will be working closely with their corporate, tax and real estate teams, as well as the experienced renewables team, whose experience will be vital for our more complex projects.”
