Irish law firm Byrne Wallace, formerly BCM Hanby Wallace, has launched an office in New York.
The new office opened for business 3 May 2010. Corporate partner Dennis Agnew, who joined the firm in February 2008, will run the office along with two other staff.
According to managing partner Paul McGennis, the purpose of the office is to secure more work from US companies investing into Ireland, particularly in the pharmaceuticals sector, where Byrne Wallace represents a number of clients including Elan, Azur Pharma and Shionogi.
“We decided earlier this year that we would establish a New York office to capture US work coming into Ireland,” said McGennis, “you have to be there because by the time the work comes here it’s too late.
“We also have clients that are extending into North America so want to help them too, but mostly we want to win work coming into Ireland.”
