US firm Duane Morris has appointed vice chairman of its litigation group, John Soroko, as its new chairman.
Soroko, who officially began his new role yesterday (3 January), has replaced Sheldon Bonovitz, who has been chairman for a decade, taking up the post in 1998.
During his time as chairman, Bonovitz has been instrumental in exploring global expansion in Europe and Asia.
Last year (17 May) The Lawyer reported on the US firm's preliminary merger talks with a number of London firms with Bonovitz spending time in the capital discussing ways to ramp up the firm's footprint in the UK.
In 2007, the firm launched in Vietnam adding to its recently launched Asian office in Singapore.
Soroko is a litigation partner with particular expertise in corporate and securities matters.
