Druces adds to insolvency and property

City commercial firm Druces & Attlee has recruited two partners to boost its insolvency and commercial property departments.

Insolvency partner Tim Bignell joins the practice from Kent-based Argles & Court, which completed a tripartite merger at the beginning of November to form one of the top five firms in the region.

Bignell was head of commercial litigation at the firm, and specialises in retail work.

Stephen Whittaker joins from City-based three-partner firm Hunter Whittaker, the niche property firm he co-founded in 1992.

The appointments bring the number of partners at Druces & Attlee to 14, with five in the commercial property department.

Corporate partner at the firm Richard Monkcom says. "The overall strategy is to strengthen our commercial property, insolvency and corporate practices.

"We will continue to grow and are looking to make more lateral hires."

Monckom refuses to name clients, but says the two partners bring with them accounts that will provide a big boost to the firm.
