Stephen Drewitt presents some evidence that there is now more to Macfarlanes’ private equity offering than only the Charles Martin generation.
Macfarlanes has the work ethic of a calvinist ant colony. And Drewitt, who was made up to the partnership in 2002, is no exception to this. In fact, he virtually makes Martin appear a lazy slacker.
Also in common with the rest of Macfarlanes, Drewitt networks furiously, with only a momentous event such as the birth of his child likely to keep him away from the British Venture Capital Association (BVCA) dinner.
Drewitt often works with more senior private equity partners such as Martin or Charles Meek, but he is increasingly leading on deals for key clients.
This year he advised 3i Group on its acquisition of a minority share in the Williams Lea Group and then advised the outsourcing group on its acquisition of US rival Browne Business Solutions.
