After four years of waiting, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has released its draft social media guidance, which covers blogs, microblogs, social networking sites, online communities and live podcasts.

The guidance is the FDA’s response to ‘stakeholder requests for specific guidance on the FDA’s current views on how manufacturers… can fulfil regulatory requirements for post-marketing submissions of interactive promotional media for their FDA-approved products’, so far as they apply technical features, novel presentation and content that are unique to this form of communication…
