Stephen Irwin QC of Doughty Street Chambers has been elected, unopposed, to be the next Bar Council chairman. Irwin, the current vice-chairman, will replace incumbent chairman Matthias Kelly QC. Professional negligence and personal injury specialist Guy Mansfield QC will take on the vice-chairman role, while Crown Prosecution Service barrister Clifford Allison is the council's new treasurer.
