• Overview

Although the Isle of Man's Dougherty Quinn did not grow substantially in headcount terms, 2013 was nevertheless busy and revenues were on the rise.

In June, the firm bolted on private client boutique Kerruish Law & Trust and managing director Paul Kerruish swelled Dougherty Quinn's partner ranks. Growth also led the firm to create a new dedicated management team.

Tom Maher was named managing director, Paul Blake (formerly head of finance and business development) chief operating officer and Jo Hill head of HR.

Meanwhile, Dougherty Quinn updated all its servers and IT infrastructure and now has plans to move to a new client and document management system as well as launching a new website and brand.

Regulatory and compliance work is set to be a focus. Dougherty Quinn has just recruited KPMG senior manager Sinead O'Connor, a compliance specialist, to head its regulatory and compliance team. She will join in May in a response to increasing work in this area, including international probes.

Other growth areas include tax and criminal investigations, trusts, M&A, financial services litigation, aviation and investment into the Isle of Man.
