Dorsey & Whitney fined $400,000 for ‘piling on’ claims

Dorsey & Whitney has been fined $400,000 by a Washington State judge, the Seatlle Post-Intelligencer reports.

The Seattle firm had no good reason for eight of the 18 claims it filed in a prolonged business dipute on behalf of the EO of Holland America Cruise Lines, a King County Superior Court judge ruled.

The fine for "piling on" claims has rocked the Seattle litigation community.
