North West personal injury (PI) firm Donns has become the first client of a brand new legal services management company.
Destiny Legal Services has been launched to help law firms modernise in the wake of the Clementi review, providing a range of services such as case handling infrastructure, IT and HR support.
Destiny chief executive Mark Smith said: "Lawyers provide the direct legal advice; Destiny does absolutely everything else."
He said the company would take the pressure off lawyers, adding: "Lawyers aren't known for their management skills."
At Donns, Destiny has taken over the management of more than 200 staff involved in volume case-handling work.
Smith said the company is looking to pick up another four or five clients within a year and that it would be most helpful to firms doing volume work such as PI.
"It's clearly a developing model," he said. "But this is a model that precedes what Clementi was trying to do."
