Masons, in the run-up to its incomprehensible merger with Pinsents, continues to show admirable precision in its press releases.
In a tome that reached Lawyer Towers last week, the firm announced the hire of Yvonne Dunn. The former Wright Johnston & Mackenzie partner joined the firm’s (that’s Masons’) Glasgow office as its first appointment since the nuptials were announced. Tulkinghorn is duty bound to admit that there was some hilarity in the office when the release was first spotted, lacking as it did the Pinsents name, with certain scribes giggling that “they can’t even get their own name right”. Until it was pointed out that the two firms are, technically, yet to merge. What a shame the strategy behind the merger isn’t as precise as the release.
