Having bedded down successfully in Leeds with insurance firm Ricksons a year ago, it is now being rumoured in the region that wannabe national player DWF has been actively seeking its next bride.

The firm has apparently been making advances to some of the big players in the Yorkshire region in an attempt to set up a new matrimonial home in Newcastle.

The word on the street is that thus far any mooted unions have been spurned, but it is unlikely that a prosperous and eligible suitor such as DWF will stay single in Newcastle for long.

Indeed, with a record income of £50m - up almost 50 per cent on the previous year - a corresponding increase in the total number of partners by more than 50 per cent and profit per partner having risen by 12 per cent, it is clear that DWF wants to be a serious player. Expect a joyful announcement any day now.
