"Lawyers are obliged to tell their clients about the various funding options...."

Is this really the case? Happy to be told otherwise but surely lawyers are not supposed to be sales-people for these litigation funders?!

Apparent disagreements between law firm leaders is not perhaps the main point, but that they are both actually saying much the same thing: clients want to connect value with fees, and good firms want to expand their systems for doing so. This sounds like everyone's getting onto the same page. It might be a bit uncomfortable seeing one's competitors gaining kudos for it, but for clients and firms alike, the more lawyers that get on the page, the better.
