This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
Deborah Mills & Associates, specialist in commercial and energy law, is hiving off its property and litigation work so it can concentrate on its energy practice.
Under an agreement between it and Gordons, both based in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, DMA will refer litigation and property work to its neighbour.
Partners from each firm will act as consultants to the other, and stationery will state that the firms are associated.
DMA's litigation partner, Claire Dawson-Pick, and her team have moved to Gordons litigation department.
The move will allow the firm to focus on its specialist fields, yet remain capable of offering litigation and property facilities.
Both firms will continue to develop general corporate business independently: DMA in international publishing and intellectual property, and Gordons in all aspects of commercial law. Ray Mills, practice director of DMA, said he did not envisage any overlap because the firms specialise in different areas of corporate law.
Mark Santa-Olalla, a partner at Gordons, said: "We have been keen to establish a formal link with DMA for some time. Their style is like ours, determined and individualistic, and we look forward to a really worthwhile collaboration."
Wilsons, the 15-partner Salisbury-based law firm, has joined the Law South network of firms.
The practice's decision to sign up to the 11-member network marks its first expansion since 1989.
Managing partner Stephen Oxley said a key reason for joining the group was its tailor-made training programme, run by Central Law Training.
He said: "It's difficult for firms to operate in isolation and part of solving that is the need to talk." He said he looked forward to sharing management and financial information with the network's members, and that the group office supply purchasing agreements and centralised marketing programmes had also proved attractive.
Wilsons' business is principally private client work, including tax planning.
