DLA to launch in Turkey via alliance with local firm
DLA Piper is to establish a presence in Turkey through a relationship with Istanbul law firm Yüksel Karkın Küçük (YKK).

The two firms have been discussing a tie-up for some time. The deal will give DLA Piper a foothold in the world’s 15th largest economy, while expanding the international network available to 45-lawyer YKK.
DLA Piper has been targeting Turkey after bringing on board Marc Grossman, the former US ambassador to Turkey, as a senior adviser.
Turkey has elicited interest from international firms of late, having emerged relatively quickly from the recession and been upgraded by ratings agency Moody’s from stable to positive this year (8 January 2010).
Other international law firms with a presence there include Clifford Chance, which hired a lawyer from local firm Pekin & Pekin in 2009, Denton Wilde Sapte and White & Case. Linklaters has a dedicated Turkey desk.
The news is a further sign that DLA Piper is expanding its international network, having formed an exclusive relationship with Kenyan firm Iseme Kamau & Maema Advocates (IKM) earlier this month (8 February 2010).

I think this is a bad move for Yüksel Karkin Küçük - Hopefully they have the right to dissolve the relationship without too much trouble!!

What a shame, I have used Yüksel Karkin Küçük on a number of occasions and they were a great firm.
Maybe they don't get The Lawyer in Turkey?
