DLA Piper is sending its Europe and Asia senior partner to the Gulf to marshal the firm’s expansion in the Middle East.
Peter Wayte will relocate from London to Dubai in October.
With 120 lawyers in the Middle East, DLA Piper has taken on 11 new partners in the region since the start of the year – including the arrival this week of Tony Holland from Mallesons Stephen Jaques in Melbourne.
Holland, a partner and former office head of banking and finance at Mallesons, will lead the Middle East finance practice.
Joint chief executive Nigel Knowles has set his sights on the Middle East as the firm continues the aggressive expansion it has undertaken since the merger of UK-based DLA with US firm Piper Rudnick in 2005.
