DLA has hired three junior partners and a managing associate from Linklaters’s Cologne office.
Junior partners Markus Beaumart, Thomas Jansen and Tobias Entzian, along with managing associate Bernd Borgmann join DLA’s Cologne office as partners early in the new year.
A Linklaters source said that the role of junior partner in Germany was equivalent to the UK title of senior associate and that the firm was unphased by the departures.
The appointments follow DLA’s expansion plans for Germany and are aimed at taking the firm’s Cologne office full service. Jansen specialises in technology and communications, Entzian is a M&A and corporate specialist, Beaumart specialises in real estate, while Borgmann focuses on employment law.
The firm has also secured the appointment of senior associate Kai Tumbrägel an IP and media specialist from German law firm Goerg Rechtsanwalte.
DLA’s Cologne office has only been operating for three months, after the firm launched in Germany on 1 September after ending its alliance with Goerg.
The split saw DLA tempt former Goerg managing partner Ulrich Jungst away to launch the Cologne office, which was further bolstered earlier this month by the appointment of Clifford Chance corporate partner Martin Schulte.
