DLA Piper has raided Linklaters to recruit a new Singapore managing partner and head of projects and finance for Asia.
Martin David, a finance partner in Linklaters’ Singapore branch for 10 years, has been tasked with building a projects and finance practice in the region and hopes to double the number of dedicated partners within two years.
He said: “DLA Piper gives me the platform to develop a business almost from scratch.”
DLA Piper currently has five dedicated projects partners in Asia and nine partners in all practice groups based in Singapore.
David took on various roles at Linklaters, including regional HR chief and joint head of the Bangkok practice, visiting Thailand on a weekly basis. The magic circle firm has seven partners in Singapore.
David said Linklaters’ shift towards corporate finance had been one of the reasons for his departure. He takes over from DLA Piper’s current Singapore managing partner Desmond Ong, who is set to leave the firm at the end of the year.
