DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary has delivered a blow to Hammonds’ London tax group by hiring partner Tracy Fisher.
Fisher joined Hammonds in May 2002 from Lovells and practises in corporation tax, capital gains and VAT, with a particular expertise in private equity, structured finance and property taxation.
She joins DLA Piper on 24 January.
For DLA Piper, the hire represents the latest development in a bid to bolster the firm’s corporate, cross-border and private equity taxation capabilities in the wake of the Piper Rudnick-Gray Cary merger.
Fisher’s departure leaves Hammonds’ London office with just one tax partner and five tax partners nationally.
However, Hammonds tax head Bernard Gilbey insisted: “We have a strong national tax practice and operate as one team. We remain a robust tax group with strong technicians.”
Gregory Morris, the director of DLA Piper’s tax consultancy service, said: “Tracy will be a significant asset to the London office and to the national practice.”
