DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary has poached a five partner banking and finance team from Germany’s Luther Menold as it continues its international expansion.
The team includes at least ten associates and will transfer to the three German offices of DLA Piper Germany in Cologne, Frankfurt and Hamburg.
The four partners joining DLA Piper include Wolfgang Richter, Ulf Liebelt-Westphal, Peter Jark, Nina Siedler and Antje Günther.
The raid boosts DLA Piper’s German finance team by around 20 lawyers and the firm says it has plans to increase that to 50 over the next three years.
Luther Menold is the German arm of Ernst & Young’s legal network. E&Y have been subject to previous raids by DLA Piper. Last summer 80 lawyers defected to the UK firm from its CIS operation, as first reported by The Lawyer (18 July 2005).
