DLA Piper has assigned its Seattle-based corporate, securities and M&A partner Jeff Greene to its Shanghai office to meet the increased demand for M&A work in the nation.
Greene, who is the fourth partner in the firm’s Shanghai office, is also to drive forward the firm’s China practice.
Shanghai managing partner Roy Chan said: “This assignment is a strategic step to cement our position in China and meet increased demand by emerging companies for seamless legal service.”
“The on-going investment in Chinese operations by multinationals along with the surge in Chinese companies investing abroad calls for increased focus on cross-border transactions,” added DLA’s Asia managing partner, Nick Seddon.
The move follows the recent raid on DLA Piper Beijing, which saw Akin Gump poach corporate partner Janet Jie Tang, and a three-person transaction team (www.thelawyer.com 12 September 2007).
