DLA Piper promotes 12 in London" />The London office of DLA Piper has scored the bulk of this year's partnership promotions with a total of 12 partners being made up in the City. Last year the firm promoted 10 in London.
Globally the firm has promoted a total of 69 to the partnership, up from 66 last year, with the litigation and regulatory practice gaining the highest number at 19 followed closely by corporate at 17.
According to joint CEO Nigel Knowles this year the firm has promoted a record number across its global platform. He added: "Our primary focus is always on our clients and these new partners have demonstrated their skills, commitment and ability to look after our clients around the world."
Litigation lawyers Miriam Gonzalez and Tom Canning, who are based in London and Dubai respectively are among those that have been promoted. Both feature in the 2008 edition of The Lawyer's Hot 100 list, published today.
The UK regions also fared well in the latest list of promotions with Manchester receiving six new partners, the second highest number worldwide. Leeds and Sheffield have gained one new partner apiece.
Internationally, Washington has seen the greatest number of new partners at six, with five made up in San Diego and Chicago, four in Hamburg and Palo Alto and three each in Brussels and Dubai.
Francis Burch, the firm's joint CEO, said: "The breadth of practice areas and jurisdictions represented by this group is a reflection of our vision to be the world's leading business law firm."
In addition to partnership promotions DLA Piper has promoted 29 lawyers to the role of legal director with 145 making associateship. London has gained a total of four legal directors with Manchester gaining five.
The real estate practice has seen the greatest number of new associates at 36 followed by corporate at 30 and finance at 28.
