DLA Piper has launched a three-pronged raid on its rivals in the Middle East to boost its Islamic finance practice in Dubai.
Abdulaziz Al Bosaily joins as a legal director from Clifford Chance affiliate firm Al-Jadaan Law Firm, while new senior associates Adil Hussain and Saqib Awan join from Norton Rose and Saudi Arabian firm Alliance Law Firm respectively. The trio will work with global head of Islamic finance Oliver Agha in Dubai.
DLA Piper's regional managing partner for the Middle East David Church commented: "Each of these individuals were highly sought after and I’m delighted that they turned down other opportunities and approached us in order to join Oliver's team."
The new team has extensive experience in the practice area, having previously worked on high-profile Islamic finance deals, including the first-ever Kingdom of Saudi Arabia sukuk.
Church said: "This area’s very important in the Gulf, but also increasingly for the rest of the world. It’s a type of financing that’s developing rapidly."
