DLA Piper Moscow-based partner Andrew Muriel has died suddenly while on a business trip in London.
The aircraft finance partner leaves behind a wife, two daughters and two sons.
DLA Piper senior partner Janet Legrand said: “It’s with deep regret that we announce the recent death of our partner Andrew Muriel. Andrew was a successful and very highly respected and regarded aircraft finance lawyer, with a particular focus on Russia.
“Andrew will be remembered for his good humour, great sense of fun and enthusiasm. In addition to being a talented lawyer Andrew was also an accomplished composer. He’ll be greatly missed by his many colleagues, clients and friends.”
Before joining DLA Piper in 2002 Muriel worked at Watson Farley & Williams for 10 years, including a stint as managing partner of the firm’s Moscow office. He qualified as a barrister in 1976 and was admitted as a solicitor 12 years later.
A memorial service will be held in London next Friday.
