DLA Piper makes Kuwaiti connection

DLA Piper has expanded its presence in the Gulf through a joint venture with the international division of Kuwaiti firm Al Wagayan Al Awadhi & Al Saif.

DLA Piper will be one of the few international firms to tap the Kuwaiti market. In June Denton Wilde Sapte poached the entire Kuwaiti office of Bryan Cave, led by David Pfeiffer. Stephenson Harwood also has a presence in the country.

DLA Piper joint CEO Nigel Knowles said: “Kuwait is one of the few countries in the Middle East we didn’t yet have a presence in. Given that Kuwait is one of the key Gulf Cooperation Council economies, it was a strategic decision to partner with a local organisation that mirrors our own principles and objectives.”
