DLA Piper has lost its Spanish real estate head, after Javier Ibanez decided to quit the firm and consider other business opportunities.
Ibanez said: “The reason for the move is that I’m trying to find other types of work. I’ll work in the real estate sector and I have my own business. I will take the summer to have time to think about it.”
Senior associate Enrique Isla will move into the role of real estate chief for Spain, and will be promoted to partner at the start of July.
Ibanez made partner at the Madrid office of Stephenson Harwood in 2000 and joined DLA Piper in 2002 when the firm launched its Spanish office.
His practice focuses on property acquisition and finance, specialising in shopping centres, hotels and offices.
