Stephenson Harwood has raided DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary, snaring marine insurance senior associate Alex Davis as a partner in its shipping litigation group.
Davis acts for hull, cargo and liability insurers such as Lloyd's, plus foreign insurers, particularly in the Norwegian market. Clients also include the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, advising on marine pollution cost recovery claims, and offshore contractors in relation to supply disputes.
Stephenson Harwood shipping litigation head Duncan McDonald said Davis would strengthen the firm’s shipping litigation practice by attracting more marine insurance work from new and existing clients.
"Opportunities to recruit at partner level in the marine insurance sector are few and far between,” McDonald said. “Alex has a stand-alone blue chip practice and is recognised as a specialist by the insurance market.”
