DLA Piper hires for global securities start-up

DLA Piper has launched an international securities group after poaching a US securities partner from Dewey & LeBoeuf.

George Barboutis, who is US- and UK-qualified, will join DLA Piper on 16 November as a partner in the new international securities group. Partner Alex Tamlyn will lead the 16-partner UK team.

The new group brings together the firm’s debt and equity capital markets lawyers and will be rolled out across DLA Piper’s international LLP. Barboutis’s hire will provide the team with London-based US capital markets expertise, aimed at securing Europe, Middle East and Asia clients targeting US investment.

“The group brings together the firm’s expertise across the capital markets space into a single team,” said Tamlyn. “This aligns us with the banks and other financial institutions that drive significant securities transactions globally.”
