This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
The shake-up is the work of Giles Pemberton, who took over as general counsel and company secretary in April 2006 from a role as assistant general counsel at telecoms giant Cable & Wireless, and easyJet head of legal and compliance Andrew Winterton, who joined in March this year from Virgin Atlantic, where he was legal counsel.
Winterton said: “We were surprised when we arrived that there was no official panel and have worked to set one up. It’s non-exclusive in nature, but it’s envisaged that it will be used for all English legal advice save for in exceptional circumstances.
“Although we’re a budget airline we’re not afraid of paying the right price for goodquality legal services, and this is mainly to make sure we get the right people for the work.”
The other firms on the panel are Charles Russell, Clyde & Co, Harbottle & Lewis, London firm Lane & Partners, Cambridge’s Taylor Vinters and South East firm Vizards Wyeth. Winterton said the panel will be reviewed in three years’ time.
