DLA Piper casualty chief in boutique move

DLA Piper has lost its London office’s head of casualty to insurance boutique Davies Lavery as DLA Piper looks to reorganise its casualty team.

DLA Piper London head of insurance and reinsurance Charles Gordon told The Lawyer that regional offices, rather than London, would focus on casualty claims, with high-end work staying in the capital.

Regional lawyers with casualty work will report to Sheffield-based group head of insurance Clive Staton rather than to any successor for Mark Burton, the former London head of casualty.

Burton is to join 17-partner Davies Lavery on 1 December as head of its bodily injury practice.

Davies Lavery has a history of cherrypicking City heads, taking on Barlow Lyde & Gilbert’s head of general insurance Graham Dickinson and three of his team in February 2006.
