DLA Piper builds Sydney with AAR hire

DLA Piper has appointed veteran corporate lawyer Warwick Painter as a partner in its Sydney office.

Painter was previously a partner at Australian “Big Six” firm Allens Arthur Robinson (AAR) for 11 years.

Painter’s practice focuses on advising on high profile and complex mergers and acquisitions, capital raisings and restructurings. He also advises on regulatory issues impacting the financial services sector and has advised on a number of significant insolvency restructurings.

Prior to joining AAR, Warwick spent 14 years as in-house corporate counsel at Westpac, including six years as head of corporate and institutional legal for the bank.

The hire has pushed the total number of partners at DLA Piper’s Sydney office to 37, while AAR has 73 partners in the city according to its website.
