DLA Piper bags Ferrovial legal chief" />DLA Piper has bolstered its Spanish corporate practice with the hire of engineering company Grupo Ferrovial's corporate legal chief.
María Segimón de Manzanos joins the firm's Madrid office as partner and becomes DLA's 16th hire in Europe this year. She will work closely with DLA's EMEA corporate head Juan Picón, who was formerly Madrid managing partner.
Segimón de Manzanos played a lead role in Grupo Ferrovial's £12bn takeover of British airport operator BAA in 2006. Before joining Grupo Ferrovial she worked at Clifford Chance's London and Madrid offices for 10 years.
Picón said: "She has a very good reputation in the Spanish market, and with her track record, in both general M&A and equity capital markets, Mar’a will be a valuable addition to the team. Mar’a will be key to the further expansion of the corporate practice."
Her hire takes the DLA Madrid office up to 16 partners and 60 lawyers.
