DLA Piper has appointed co-managing partners, including the first woman in the role in the history of the firm, to lead the US side of the business
Corporate partner Anastasia Kelly and litigation partner Michael Poulos will become co-managing partners of the US side of the firm from 1 January 2013. The appointments take effect at the same time that Roger Meltzer and Cameron Rains begin their four-year terms as US co-chairs (19 January 2012), succeeding Frank Burch and Lee Miller.
Kelly and Poulos replace Terence O’Malley who was the US managing partner until January 2012, when he was appointed to sit alongside incumbent US co-chairs Burch and Miller for a year, after which all three will serve as co-chairs emeriti.
Kelly is a corporate partner in the firm’s Washington office. She joined the firm as an of counsel in 2010 from AIG, where she was vice chairman in charge of legal, compliance and government relations, among other responsibilities. Poulos is a litigator and was named co-managing partner of the firm’s Chicago office in May 2010, serving alongside William Rudnick.
In a statement, O’Malley said: “Stasia and Mike are excellent lawyers, problem solvers, client relationship managers and business developers. Their prospective appointment is the next step in our leadership transition process, which will formally take effect in January. We want to ensure they have time to become acclimated to their new roles as our leadership and management structure continues to evolve and we build the world’s leading business law firm.”
