DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary's Portuguese ally Miranda Correia Amendoeira & Associados has merged with banking and tax boutique Luis M S Oliveira.
The coalition will see Miranda join up with the Lisbon-based nine-lawyer boutique, which is known mainly for its tax, regulatory and banking practice.
As a result of the merger, Miranda’s Lisbon office boosted its numbers to a team of 65 fee-earners, ranking among the largest Portuguese independent law firms. The firm will continue under its existing name.
Miranda’s managing partner Agostinho Pereira de Miranda said: "One of our strategic goals was to have a strong tax and regulatory practice," he said. "Rather than pursuing an internal growth strategy, the merger allows us to create one of the largest tax practices in Portugal."
Miranda formed an alliance with international firm DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary last year.
