DLA Piper has hired a five-partner corporate and IP team from Reed Smith for its Silicon Valley office.
The team will join DLA Piper on 11 January. Partners Armando Castro, Matt Oshinsky and Rich Scudellari all join DLA Piper’s corporate and securities group, while David Lisi joins the litigation practice and Craig Opperman will join the IP group.
All join DLA Piper as partners but Scudellari will also be co-managing partner of the Silicon Valley office, along with incumbent Sang Kim. Before joining DLA Piper, the team all practised in Reed Smith’s Palo Alto office.
The team acts for a range of tech companies, as well as venture capitalists, private equity investors and investment banks that fund the sector.
In a statement, DLA Piper’s global technology co-chair Peter Astiz, said: “DLA Piper has the largest technology practice among the truly global firms and this team complements our global platform, matching up well with our corporate and securities practices.
“The experience and sophistication of this team’s work representing deal-intensive technology companies around the globe will enhance our ability to expand client relationships with technology companies, entrepreneurs and the venture community.”
