DLA’s head of banking in Hong Kong is leaving after less than two years at the firm.
Grant Docherty joined DLA in October 2002 from Deacon’s Hong Kong office, where he was a partner. He was brought in alongside former Barlow Lyde & Gilbert partner Claudio de Bedin to launch DLA’s Hong Kong banking practice.
The move was part of DLA’s three-year plan to develop its international network to mirror its UK base. This included a blueprint for the Hong Kong practice to nearly treble in size. The firm’s Hong Kong office now has more than 70 fee-earners.
It is understood that Docherty is currently working out a year-long notice period and will leave the firm in March.
Docherty spent 10 years at Deacons, and prior to that worked in the Hong Kong office of Johnstone Stokes & Master.
Docherty declined to comment. DLA did not return calls for comment.
