DLA is set to deliver a devastating blow to Denton Wilde Sapte (DWS) after securing over 40 lawyers from the firm’s flagship technology, media and telecommunications department.
It is understood that 11 DWS partners, headed by Simon Levine and including sports law star Mark Gay, are defecting to DLA and are taking with them a team of more than 30 lawyers.
Sources say DLA’s equity partners received an email yesterday relating to the hire. It is expected a vote will take place within the next day. At this point none of the expected movers from DWS to DLA have handed in their notice.
The DWS group specialises in film, film financing and tax, sport, media and telecommunications.
It is understood DLA’s international network and the soon to be finalised tie-in with Piper Rudnick were key reasons for the team’s defection to DLA.
