DLA Piper has continued its Italian hiring spree, hiring the Italian general counsel of international real estate development company Foruminvest.
Matteo Troni, who had previously worked at Studio Legale Chiomenti and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer before moving in-house, will join DLA’s Milan office.
The hire follows that of two finance partners and eight fee-earners in October, a new head for its technology, media and commercial practice from Carnelutti in July, and a six-lawyer team from Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe’s Milan operation in June.
The hire of Troni is the first of the spree to encompass the real estate practice, bringing it to four partners and 14 fee earners, headed by Olaf Schmidt.
Troni pecialises in advising on joint venture acquisition vehicles, development structuring and investment financing.
DLA Piper Italian managing partner Federico Sutti said: “This is a vote of confidence in our strategic orientation and for one of Italy's leading real estate teams.”
