DLA has launched a Scottish telecoms, media and communications (TMC) practice, with the hire of McGrigor Donald technology and intellectual property (IP) specialist John McKinlay
McKinlay has previously acted for 3i and Elixent in the acquisition of IP rights from HP, for computer games company VIS on publishing agreements with PlayStation 2, as well as some spin-out tech companies from universities.
The firm wants to target a broad mix of clients, including tech suppliers either based or with operations in Scotland, and key telecoms players.
"We needed the key person there to get the process off the ground," said TMC head Julia Stait. "This is the start of the process of building up the practice there."
