DLA's City office has taken on an aviation partner from niche aviation firm Beaumont and Son.
Vincent Coppinger, who joined DLA last week, will focus on post-air accident liabilities and aviation-related commercial litigation. His move follows the recruitment of fellow Beaumont partner Paul Freeman, who joined DLA's Hong Kong office in May this year. Unlike Beaumont, DLA's aviation practice also advises on the non-contentious side of aviation, including commercial leasing. Coppinger said that this was part of the incentive for the move. "The add-ons are not part of my work, but it's good for the clients that want a comprehensive service. In the airline business other things are always cropping up," he said. Coppinger is also qualified in Hong Kong, where he spent two years working on commercial litigation and contentious airline cases At DLA he will spend some of his time in Hong Kong and will work closely with former colleague Freeman. There are now five partners in DLA's aviation practice, including the group head Mark Franklin, who moved from Beaumont in 1997 to set up the group.
