DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary is helping in the fight to bring human rights to Myan-mar by preparing a report to be presented by the UN.
Vaclav Havel, former president of the Czech Republic, and Desmond Tutu, Nobel Peace Prize laureate, app-roached DLA Piper Wash-ington DC associate Jared Genser for help with the document because of his previous work in this area.
The 70-page report calls for intervention by the UN Security Council to bring change to Myanmar. Genser, who is completing the work pro bono, will also work towards getting the report's recommendations adopted by governments around the world.
As a law student, Genser spent time working in London for a human rights organisation where he was involved in the successful fight to release activist James Mawdsley from a Burmese prison. Genser is also president of Freedom Now, a not-for-profit organisation that fights for the release of political prisoners.
