The City office of DLA is strengthening its litigation practice with the recruitment of a litigation partner from Stephenson Harwood.
Matthew Saunders joins on 1 June after 10 years at Stephenson Harwood. He specialises in banking litigation and cross-jurisdictional disputes and fraud work.
DLA's litigation practice is split along sector lines, but national head of litigation David Gray says that whereas many of the partners work across the sectors, Saunders is more of a hybrid with one specific focus.
He says: "Saunders will complement the existing practice. He has good connections with high street banks, but he also has international arbitration experience."
Saunders joins ex-Stephenson Harwood partner David Capps, who joined the litigation practice three years ago. More recently, Martin Soames joined from Biddle following its merger with Pinsent Curtis.
There are currently 20 partners in the litigation department. Saunders is currently on gardening leave and was unavailable for comment.
