DJ Freeman has appointed Ambereen Salamat as a new partner in its insurance department.
Salamat was one of the partners made redundant from the corporate team of Davies Arnold Cooper's London office in February, along with four other partners and nine assistants.
DAC is making about 90 staff redundant this year and has closed down its corporate department in Manchester.
Richard Spiller, head of DJ Freeman's insurance department, says Salamat is far more secure in his firm because it is expanding. He says: "We are expanding our three core departments - insurance, media and communications, and property - so we are looking for good people.
"Salamat's expertise is complementary to ours. She specialises in the corporate and regulatory side of insurance."
He adds: "The insurance department expanded its fee income by 30 per cent last year. We are looking for about three new partners in the insurance department, and we are happy that Salamat is one of them.
"She has been one to watch for some time. Many firms would have been interested in taking her on."
