McGrigor Donald is welcoming onboard a key partner from DJ Freeman to head its City construction department.
The Lawyer reported earlier this month (6 March) that Anthony Edwards was leaving DJ Freeman, but he had not decided which firm to join.
Edwards will be the first construction partner to be based at the London office when he joins next month.
Brandon Nolan, McGrigor Donald's national head of construction, says: “We've got him. This is a real coup for our firm.
“He is the new head of construction in London and is on board to develop this area of legal expertise for us in England.”
Construction assistant Stuart Nash will work under him with another lawyer who is being poached from a rival, as well as a trainee solicitor. The second lawyer has yet to be named.
Nolan says the firm is looking for more lawyers to join the department, both partners and assistants.
“We are looking to build a team up after this hire. If the right people come along we will snap them up,” he says.
After Edwards joins, the firm will have five construction partners nationwide – it has offices in Glasgow, London, Belfast, Edinburgh and Brussels.
DJ Freeman's chief executive Jonathan Lewis says: “We wish Anthony Edwards the best of luck.”
