DJ Freeman hunts out multimedia whiz-kids for specialist department

D J Freeman is on the look out for two senior media lawyers in a bid to boost its media operations.

The City firm has created a new multimedia division, claiming the demand for media and telecommunications specialists is booming.

The division will be headed by Tony Leifer, who previously led the firm's company commercial department.

He says that the demand for specialists in all fields of media law has prompted the company to concentrate the majority of its specialists into one department.

And in order to increase the new division's multimedia credentials the firm is currently holding interviews for a telecommunications and cable TV lawyer and a TV production and film finance specialist. Both are expected to join as partners.

The two recruits will join the company's existing department of five partners and 10 assistant solicitors.

Leifer says he believes the entertainment, IT and communications industries are converging, creating a growing need for expertise in overlapping industries.

He adds: “It makes sense to direct considerable resources to exploiting a field where there is a great deal of new work.”
