DJ Freeman hit by fifth departure

`Jonathan Barnes, who became a partner in 1999 and has been with DJ Freeman for 14 years, is moving to Lewis Silkin.`Barnes will be the fifth partner to leave the firm’s property group this year.`He follows Stephen Koehne who left for Stephenson Harwood, Richard Max, who joined Olswang, and Christopher Comyn and Jonathan Martyn, who went to Watson Farley Williams.`The rush of departures calls into question DJ Freeman’s structure, in which departments are multidisciplinary.`But DJ Freeman’s chief executive Jonathan Lewis said: “We are hiring lots of younger lawyers and other specialists to fit in with our multidisciplinary approach.”
