Withy King posted a turnover of £15.9m for 2009-10, up by 28.2 per cent on the previous year’s £12.4m. Net profit was £4.5m, with average profit per equity partner £158,000.
Managing partner Graham Street attributes the increase to the strong performance of the private client, personal injury and clinical negligence practices.
The commercial side of the firm held up quite well, although commercial property was a natural casualty of the recession, dropping by around 15 per cent.
The 50-partner firm has satellite offices in Marlborough and Abingdon, but its main offices are in Bath (its headquarters), Swindon and Oxford. The latter is where the firm is investing most these days in a bid to increase its commercial capability there.
