Turnover dropped at Wiltshire-based Wilsons Solicitors for the third consecutive year. It posted a turnover of £12m in 2009-10, down from £12.2m the year before and some way off the heights of 2007-08’s £13.4m. Net profit last year was £3.3m, average profit per equity partner £151,000 and the equity spread £97,000-£172,000. The firm operates a modified lockstep with eight steps.
Wilsons increased staff numbers slightly last year and took on two planning lawyers as well as a rural property solicitor to join its 18-strong property team. It maintains a strong position in the charities sector, particularly its legacy team. The private client and agricultural practices were also major contributors to turnover last year.
